Past Town Projects/In Progress
Ku'ulei Road Landscaped Safety Islands

This is beautification of Ku'ulei Rd. from halfway between Oneawa and Aulike Streets (a very high-pedestrian traffic corner), makai to Maleniu St.: but not just that, these will be small landscaped safety islands to accommodate the

new street trees. Vehicular traffic calming without impeding ingress and egress from existing driveways is gained.

This project picks up where we left off after designing and championing the landscaped safety islands down Kailua Rd, which were
extremely well received; our research proves that.

In the light of the national movement to provide "Safe Routes to Schools", this project aims to serve "the Greater Good" of helping our community keiki flowing in and out of the schools and library across Ku'ulei, as well as a constant pedestrian safety experience and slower traffic for our slow-moving Senior Citizens living nearby. While existing parking along the business (North) side of Ku'ulei will remain,
research shows the parking along the South side of Ku'ulei is rarely used, typically as loading/unloading or parent/child ride staging, for
which provisions will be made at the right times of the day.
